Overview
The Butterfly Knife is a folding blade modeled on the traditional Philippine balisong, opened and closed with a distinctive spin of its handles. It carries two unique draw animations and three separate inspect animations, more flourishes than most other knives receive, and it ranks among the more frequently requested knives in the community. This knife has been available since July 2014, when Operation Phoenix began, and like every knife it is never bought directly; it only appears as a rare special-item drop, unboxed from the Operation Breakout Weapon Case, the Dreams & Nightmares Case, the Operation Riptide Case, the Spectrum Case, and the Spectrum 2 Case. Every finish made for it carries Covert rarity.
Skins
The wiki lists 35 skins for the Butterfly Knife, all of them Covert rarity like every knife finish in the game. Named patterns among the rarest include Autotronic, Blue Steel, Boreal Forest, and Crimson Web, names that also appear on several of the game's other knives.
