About the M249

Overview · Skins

Overview

The M249 is a belt-fed machine gun available to both sides for $5,200, one of the costliest weapons in the game. It is modeled on the FN Minimi, a Belgian design from 1974, and carries the largest magazine of any weapon at 100 rounds with 200 more in reserve. Its fire rate of about 750 rounds per minute lets it output damage quickly, dealing 32 to 40 per body shot and 102 to 128 to the head, enough to drop an opponent through a helmet in one hit. Heavy recoil and poor accuracy at range work against it, and between the price and the handling it stays one of the least-chosen weapons in matches.
